International College of Health Sciences

NC-SARA Approved Institution

NC-SARA

International College of Health Sciences is proud to announce that they are an approved institution of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements Approved Institution (NC-SARA).

SARA pertains to approval of distance education courses and programs offered across state lines by postsecondary institutions that already have degree authorization in at least one state. SARA centralizes the authorization process for each institution in a single state called the institution’s “home state.” Colleges or universities in a SARA state therefore only need their home state authorization to offer distance education to students in any other SARA member state, subject to certain limitations.

Any degree-granting institution in the U.S. must be authorized by a governmental entity to issue degrees. The “government” is typically a state government, but it can also be Congress or an American Indian tribe. In addition, the U.S. Department of Education requires proof of state authorization as a condition of eligibility to participate in Title IV student assistance programs. SARA policy is intended to be consistent with federal law and is therefore subject to change based on federal rulemaking.

ACCSC Accredited

Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges

International College of Health Sciences is now accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). ACCSC accreditation promotes institutional accountability by systematically and comprehensively evaluating institutions based upon criteria established via the Standards of Accreditation. Accreditation also serves an essential role in institutional and programmatic quality assurance as a critical component of the regulatory “triad” in partnership with federal and state governments that are responsible for the oversight of higher education institutions.

Accreditation seeks to assess and enhance the educational quality of an institution, ensure consistency in institutional operations, promote self-evaluation and institutional improvement, and provide for public accountability within a peer-review framework. ACCSC accreditation promotes institutional accountability by systematically and comprehensively evaluating institutions based upon criteria established via the Standards of Accreditation.

ACCSC is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the designated institutional accrediting body for over 650 post-secondary, trade and technical schools that provide education to over 150,000 students in a wide variety of vocational programs each year.

ACCSC’s mission is to serve as a reliable authority on educational quality and to promote enhanced opportunities for students by establishing, sustaining, and enforcing valid standards and practices which contribute to the development of a highly trained and competitive workforce through quality career oriented education.

Candidate for ACEN Accreditation

accreditation

International College of Health Sciences is thrilled to announce our application for candidacy has been granted for the nursing program for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The ACEN supports the interests of nursing education, nursing practice, and the public by the functions of accreditation.

This accreditation will assist in the further improvement of our programs as it relates to resources invested, processes followed, and results achieved. The monitoring of certificate, diploma, and degree offerings is tied closely to state examination and licensing rules and to the oversight of preparation for work in the profession.

Our values align with the ACEN since the singular function of nursing is the improvement of the human condition. Postsecondary and higher education provide for the development of learners’ ability to think for themselves, master analytical problem-solving, apply scientific knowledge, and make value judgments within the context of the specific program type. Thus, education requires a broad academic orientation and depth and breadth of intellectual skills translated into competencies so as to fulfill nursing’s functions in all types of nursing.

This Nursing Program Works Well For Chiropractors/Foreign Educated Doctors

international-doctors

If you are a Chiropractor, Paramedic, or Foreign Educated Medical Doctor this nursing program may be well suited for you. Students follow the same course of study as other nursing students at ICHS, but are given credit for some courses taken abroad. Training is validated by performance on "challenge examinations."

The program is seen as one solution to the state's nursing shortage. Many of the foreign-educated physicians who have entered the nursing program were already working in hospitals as medical assistants, nurse assistants, or phlebotomists. Most of those enrolled were trained as physicians in Cuba, Haiti, Russia, or the European block.
